Sony Expo thoughts and tips

You won't lack for local coverage of the Sony Expo this year at Ala Moana Hotel, which is running through tomorrow, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. So let me just add a few observations.

First, there weren't any jaw-dropping products this year. The 9.9 millimeter-thin BRAVIA KLV-40ZX1M LCD was impressive and we liked the DSLR Alpha Camera A900. The Blue-Ray disc VAIO is a very sweet notebook that I would have taken home but for the laptop lock.

However, the Advertiser Road Trip Crew (ARTC) didn't experience the ooohas and ahhhhs of previous expos and the game offerings were disappointing. Maybe we're getting numb to product rollouts.

Like last year, however, you'll want to hold off on purchasing any products until Shirokiya and other retailers announce their post-expo sales. I'll add that you'll want to check prices online as well since we're very close to Black Friday.

Meantime, the ARTC wants to know: why doesn't Canon and Nikon hold big-old expos here, too? We don't mean the invite-only mini demos, but a Sony-like unveiling of the latest and greatest?

Did you take in the expo? What were your impressions?

I did attend again this year. Like computer technology, I am amazed at the constant and steady changes. Really love the Blue-Ray disc VAIO and I think it will be a must have for me.

Thanks, Kim. Let me know if you see a good price on the VAIO!

    Sandee,

You're right... this year wasn't as exciting as past years. Maybe it was because the launch of PS3 was HUGE and the advent of blu-ray made things much more exciting.

Must be the economy... haha... let's blame everything on the economy. Ahh, headache... must be the economy... :-)
